A gentle walk, within the ‘Walls’ and alleyways of Old Whitstable and onto the harbour. Brian Baker connect the life of today’s Whitstable to the way of life of Whitstable ancestors - where they lived, their character and aspirations. Smugglers, Oystermen, Shipbuilders, Divers, Mariners, Flooding and Fire all combine to paint the picture of the Whitstable Natives and the town they built. (Wheelchair friendly route). Duration: About 75 minutes.
Brian, himself a descendant of a line of oyster dredgers, fosters family links between Whitstable Natives through a local history and family history website. Here, Whitstable descendants from all over the world pool their research as they discover their roots and those of the town.
