Poetic Taste – with Canterbury Laureate Patience Agbabi

Poetic Taste – a unique masterclass with Canterbury Laureate Patience Agbabi

Deco 5, Oxford Street
3pm to 5pm

Canterbury Laureate Patience Agbabi invites you to the table to explore the poetic palette/palate and stimulate sumptuous verses. Expert in poetic taste and technique, Patience will take you through the ingredients to create completely satisfying work.

If I didn’t write poems, I’d write about food. I’d be a restaurant critic for the Guardian and enjoy giving marks out of ten like 2.75 and 9.007. I’d move each morsel over different parts of my tongue - salt, sweet, bitter, sour - and find the right word for the sensation. But I’m a poet. I savour the shapes my tongue makes to form soundscapes. I like simple poems with choice ingredients: crisp rhythm, sparkling imagery, depth of emotion. What’s your poetic taste? Come along to find out.
